The Man with Many Demons
Read
Jesus and his closest followers arrived at the other side of the lake after He had stopped the storm.
And there was a man living there who had lots of demons. He was violent, walked around naked, screaming, and he even cut himself with rocks. He was completely out of his mind.
As soon as Jesus got out of the boat, the man started screaming and running towards Jesus. And when got to Jesus, he fell on the ground and began yelling, “What do you want Jesus, Son of the most-high God? Please don’t hurt us.”
Jesus asked them, “What’s your name?” The demons replied, “Our name is Army, because there’s a lot of us in this man.”
Now, close by on a hillside there were about two thousand pigs that were grazing. And the demons begged Jesus, “Please don’t send us far away, send us into these pigs instead.” So, Jesus cast the demons out and allowed them to go in the pigs. When the demons entered them, the pigs went crazy and ran down the side of the hill right into the lake, and they all drowned.
The men who were taking care of the pigs saw what happened, and they ran into town and told everyone about it.
Soon, a large crowd came out to see what happened. When they got to there, they saw the man who had been filled with all the demons sitting quietly in his right mind and fully clothed. And it freaked them out, so much so that the crowd began begging Jesus, “Please just go away! Do not bother us anymore!”
So, Jesus and his closest followers got in the boat to leave. But as He was getting in the boat, the man who had the demons began to say, “Please, Jesus, let me go with you!” Jesus turned to him and said, “Go back to your family and tell them about everything that God’s done for you, and how He showed you mercy.”
So, the man did just as Jesus had told him. He went back and told his family everything God did. But he not only told them, he went and told everyone in the surrounding towns about what Jesus had done for him, and everybody was completely amazed.
